To make a sachet that will hold about one cup of dried lavender, fold a piece of 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper in half, and draw one half of a heart shape so the center is on the fold. Cut along the lines, and unfold the pattern. Fold your fabric in half, right sides together, and pin the two layers together. Lay your template over the fabric, trace the heart with tailor’s chalk, and cut out the pattern.

Make sure the layers are pinned together and sew around the perimeter of the heart, allowing a 1/4-inch seam. Leave a 2 1/2-inch opening for the lavender. Turn the sachet inside out, and press with a steam iron. Fill the sachet with the lavender florets and slipstitch the opening.

To add a ribbon loop so the sachet can be suspended from a hanger or hook, cut a piece of ribbon to a length of 16 inches. Fold it in half lengthwise, and tie a knot about 3 inches from the top to create a loop.

Hand-sew the knot to the top of the heart, and trim the ends.

Place marbles in cold dry skillet and set on burner at medium to high heat. Stir marbles constantly as they are being fried. Keep them in pan until they are completely heated through – about 15 to 20 minutes.

Pour marbles into a pan of ice water. The sudden change in temperature will cause the inside of marbles to crackle, while the outside retains its round shape. The crackle inside will pick up rays of light in bright sparkles. If marbles were not completely heated through, they will crackle only a little. Note: You may repeat the process only once to achieve the desired effect or the marbles may break completely.

Cement a bell cap to each marble. Spread prongs of bell cap to conform to curve of marble.

When cement has set, open a jump ring and slip through loop in top of cap. Bend ends of ring back together again.

The marble is now ready to be slipped onto a necklace chain as a pendant or you may place several on a charm type bracelet.

Lay out the baby items so you can mark the spots where you sew it up to make the little compartments. Tuck the ends of
two 8-inch-long ribbons into the seam before sewing up the last edge, so you can tie the kit once it is rolled up.
